About the artist
Born in 1978, Misaki Kawai is a Japanese artist and work in New York. Misaki Kawai manifests strongly in her works, the extremely suppressed nature of the new Japanese nurtured in an affluent, internet-age social background that is also filled with comics, anime, video games and entertainment media. Kawai creates installations out of wood, fabric, and other low-tech, "crafty" materials like felt, stickers, and yarn. Her works have toured in many galleries and museums in America and Europe, and also attend a lot of projects, making her one of the most regarded up-and-coming overseas Japanese artists.
