About the artist

Louise Bourgeois, ’’ You have to differentiate between memories. Are you going to them or are they coming to you? If you are going to them, you are wasting time. Nostalgia is not productive. If they come to you, they are the seeds for sculptures.’’

Louise Bourgeois is one of America's female artists. Her most famous installation, "Maman" is a giant metal sculpture of a spider. It is a symbol of Louise's mother, who worked as a weaver and was as intelligent, patient and protective as a spider.

Louise inspiration from her personal life experiences makes her feminist works more authentic and moving.
